Withdrawing: you get the exam fee minus $150 back if you withdraw on or before the application deadline, a 50% refund if you withdraw after the deadline but more than 8 weeks before the first exam day, and no refund after that. Documented illness can qualify for up to a 33% refund, and bereavement or compassionate circumstances for up to 50%.
Withdrawing does not use up an attempt. PEBC says you must attend the exam for it to count as one.

When PEBC results come out
As a rough guide, expect results about five to six weeks after the last testing day of your window. Check PEBC's recent results page on the posted date.
- Within six weeks of the exam, PEBC posts a pass list on its website by PEBC identification number.
- Within one week of that, your results letter is added to your PEBC Digital Wallet.
- Results are not released by phone.
- November 2026 results are scheduled for Thursday, December 17, 2026, at 12:00 pm Eastern Time. PEBC lists all 2027 results dates as to be confirmed.
How pass or fail is decided
- Pass/fail only. PEBC does not release overall scores, passing scores or question content.
- Criterion-referenced standard. The passing standard is set by what a competent entry-level pharmacist should know, not by ranking candidates. PEBC states there is no built-in pass or fail rate.
- Scaled for difficulty. Scores are transformed to a standardized scale, and for Part I an equating procedure sets the minimum number of correct answers needed on your exam form.
- Only 150 of the 200 Part I questions count. The other 50 are unscored pretest questions you cannot identify, and there is no penalty for a wrong answer, so answer every question.
PEBC pass rates
PEBC publishes pass rates for two years of exams, from May 2024 to May 2026. The reference group is graduates of Canadian-accredited pharmacy programs writing for the first time in their year of graduation.
| Candidate group | Part I (MCQ) candidates | Part I pass rate | Part II (OSCE) candidates | Part II pass rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reference group | 2,468 | 87.2% | 2,474 | 92.5% |
| Canadian graduates, repeat | 379 | 67.3% | 167 | 82.6% |
| International graduates, first attempt | 3,182 | 35.6% | 2,267 | 56.6% |
| International graduates, repeat | 2,066 | 47.1% | 874 | 69.8% |
If you do not pass
- Read your feedback report. Unsuccessful candidates get a report on their performance, added to the Digital Wallet about eight weeks after results are released. Use it to pick the competency areas to focus on.
- Know your attempts. You get up to four attempts at each Part. After three attempts you must complete remediation before the fourth, and PEBC must receive proof at least three weeks before the exam. Completing another eligible pharmacy program earns four more attempts, up to a lifetime limit of eight per Part.
- Mind the three-year rule. You must pass both Parts within three years of each other, or retake the Part you already passed.
- Rescoring is limited. You can request one hand rescoring within 75 days of results ($100 for Part I). It only confirms data entry and tabulation; exam content and standards cannot be appealed.
- Rebuild your plan around the feedback, not just more questions. Target the weakest areas first, and practise under timed conditions.
