PEBC® MCQ Prep Options Compared: Courses, Question Banks, Books and AI Tools

There is no single right way to prepare for PEBC® Qualifying Exam Part I (MCQ). Candidates combine official sample material, a question bank, sometimes a live course, and their own notes. The options differ mostly in structure, volume of questions and cost.

This page describes each type of resource and lists prices as published on each provider's own website on October 19, 2026. Prices and sessions change often, so check the provider's site before you buy. PEBC does not endorse any review course, study guide or textbook. PharmaStudyAI is one of the options listed; we have tried to describe the others fairly and to say where ours is not the best fit.

Start with PEBC's official material

Everyone should use these. They are the only practice questions written by PEBC, but there are not enough of them to prepare on alone.

  • Sample questions (free). PEBC publishes Part I sample questions with answers as a PDF. They show the format and phrasing style and are reviewed annually, but PEBC says they are not a sample exam.
  • Sample practice exam. 60 questions on the 2026 blueprint, booked through Prometric, with proportionate timing. You get feedback by competency area but no score, and PEBC says the questions are the same as the sample questions. Check Prometric for any fee.
  • Demo tutorial (free). A walkthrough of the computer-based exam interface. Do it before exam day so the screen, flags and calculator are familiar.

Which type suits you

Live prep courses

Best for: candidates who want a fixed schedule, instructors to ask, and someone else to decide what to cover. Often chosen by international graduates who are new to Canadian practice.

Trade-offs: the highest cost, and the pace is set for the group rather than for your weak areas.

Question banks

Best for: volume. A large, fixed bank with mock exams lets you practise under timed conditions and track scores by subject.

Trade-offs: once you have done the questions on a topic, there are no new ones.

Review books

Best for: a structured reference to read and annotate, and for candidates who study well from print.

Trade-offs: reading is not practice. Pair a book with questions, and check that guideline-based content matches the current Canadian guidelines.

AI study tools

Best for: high-volume practice on exactly the topics you are weak in, questions generated from your own notes, and asking follow-up questions until a concept makes sense.

Trade-offs: no live instructor or fixed curriculum, and generated content should be checked against Canadian references when something looks wrong. PharmaStudyAI focuses on Part I (MCQ); if you need OSCE practice with a partner or a technician exam course, look elsewhere.

University bridging programs for international graduates

Bridging programs are not exam prep courses, but many international graduates take one. They teach Canadian practice and, in some provinces, form part of the licensing route.

Frequently asked questions

Does PEBC recommend a prep course?

No. PEBC states that it does not sanction or endorse any review course, study guide or textbook.

How much does PEBC MCQ prep cost?

It ranges from free (PEBC's sample questions) to about $1,600 CAD for a live course. Question banks listed on October 19, 2026 cost from $50 a month (CanadaQBank, charged in USD at the equivalent amount) to about $700, and PharmaStudyAI has a free plan with paid plans from $15 a month billed yearly.

Is a question bank enough to pass PEBC Part I?

It can be, depending on your starting point. A question bank works best with careful review of every wrong answer and the current Canadian guidelines. Candidates new to Canadian practice often benefit from more structure, such as a course or bridging program. No resource guarantees a pass.

Are there free PEBC practice questions?

Yes. PEBC publishes free sample questions, and PharmaStudyAI has free original MCQs with explanations on the MCQ practice page and each topic page.
